The European Union has injected about 19.3 million U.S. dollars in the Information Communications Technology (ICT) training program in Uganda.
The program is designed for tutors and principals in health training institutions in Uganda, according to the Daily Monitor report on Tuesday.
The five-year project, which coordinated by the country's Ministry of Education and Sports, is an initiative to develop human resource in health training institutions, which aims at a well-trained workforce equipped well with computer skills.
Jane Egau Okou, the coordinator of Developing Human Resources for Health Project, said part of the money would be used to develop and rehabilitate infrastructures in health training institutions.
Egau said construction and rehabilitation work of the infrastructures would kick off in nine private training institutions and five public institutions this year.
She said about 30 tutors had been sponsored to upgrade their skills both in Uganda and abroad when the government is striving to improve its ICT sector to fasten the country's economic growth.
