A total of 290,700 vehicles in 74 models were sold in May, falling by 14.7 percent over the previous month, according to Beijing Times. Nine out the top ten sedan makers saw a decline by 10 percent to 20 percent. Geely is the only one among the ten to see growth.
In May, Shanghai GM sold 36,400 units, securing the top place. FAW VW and Shanghai VW sold 28,700 and 27,300 respectively. Chery decreased by 30 percent to 23,200, still keeping the fourth.
Out of expectation, FAW Toyota decreased by 23 percent, ranking the second among the decline list, due to the new model Reiz' drop of 34 percent to 3,579 units.
In May, the top five models are Jetta, 17,000 units, Xiali, 15,400, Excelle, 14,200, Elantra, 13,700, Santana, 13,400. Among them, except Jetta witnessed a slight increase, the other four saw decrease.
