Costa Rica's Foreign Ministry said in a Wednesday statement that it has made a three-munite video on the nation which will be shown during soccer's World Cup, to show off the country's tourism, cultural riches, and investment environment.
The advertisement, which will be broadcast on eight Latin American television channels and on German broadcaster ZDF, begins with an invitation to visit the nation by Costa Rica's president, Oscar Arias; winner of the 1987 Nobel Prize.
The advert cost around 600,000 U.S. dollars to make, Gina Gillen, director of international promotion said.
"It represents an unprecedented global promotion of Costa Rica, " she said. "The countries will show the video at least once before each Costa Rica game," she said.
A separate 30-second spot, produced by the Costa Rica Tourism Institute, will be shown five minutes before and after the soccer World Cup's first game in Germany, where hosts Germany play Costa Rica.
Head of Germany's World Cup committee, Franz Beckenbauer, has worked with Costa Rica, supporting a plan to show short films, sponsored by Coca Cola, about the country, on the giant screens on the 12 stadiums used in the World Cup.
The eight Latin nations are: Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Costa Rica.
