Nepali guerrillas trying to disrupt peace process: party leader
font size

Nepali Communist Party Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal on Saturday blamed the guerrillas of trying to disrupt the peace process.

The guerrillas have started putting forward new demands in order to deter the peace process, Nepal said at a program in Kathmandu Saturday.

Nepal's remarks came after the guerrillas repeatedly called for dissolution of the House of Representatives and non-revival of the local bodies.

Nepal, however, maintained that his party will extend full support if an interim government including the guerrillas is formed.

Nepal also said that both the government and the guerrillas have to abide by the cease-fire code of conduct and form an interim government.

"The government, guerrilla and the seven parties all have to be alert of the antagonist forces who are trying to create serious differences in between," Nepal added.

Nepal also urged all concerned to overlook petty differences to make the peace talks productive.

In his first interview with a Nepali Television channel, top leader of the guerrillas Prachanda on Thursday warned that the country will witness further bloodshed if the government move ahead by considering the parliament as the be-all and end-all.

He has also claimed that the seven parties are entangled in " minor" issues without entering the main agenda of peace.
