Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete has signed a memorandum of understanding of the African Peer Review Mechanism of the African Union to facilitate governance reviewing by fellow African countries.

The MoU was signed on Friday in Dodoma where the Tanzanian National Assembly is to sit in session next week, according to reports reaching here on Saturday.

President Jakaya Kikwete said after signing the MoU that his government is ready for peer review because it has nothing to hide from the review.

The Tanzanian government will cooperate fully to ensure that the reviewing exercise become a great success, said the president.

The African Union, through its New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) program, has resolved to resort to reviewing process among member states for the purpose of pinpointing problems and challenges facing them.

The reviewing exercise is also expected to find ways and options for solving review-found problems and challenges.
