The Nepali government has decided to scrap all laws that were brought in against press freedom, a statement issued here Sunday by the Ministry of Information and Communications said.

According to the statement, the ministry is to publish a notice to that effect in the government gazette.

It also decided to stop anti-democracy programs in government media, to make public the funds allegedly misused under the heads of one-door advertisement policy to provide for public welfare advertisements the money that remains to be released and also to increase the budget for such advertisements.

Furthermore, an agreement has been reached between Communications Minister Dilendra Rasa Badu and representatives of media bodies to allow electronic media also to benefit from such ads.
