DPRK accuses U.S. of conducting spy flightsThe Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Sunday accused the United States of spying on its coast area from skies. In a statement, an unnamed spokesman for the air command of the Korean People's Army said the United States on Saturday conducted a spy flight over Hwadae County and other places along the eastern coast of the DPRK, using an RC-135 strategic reconnaissance plane. The statement, carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, said two other flights spied on the DPRK on June 6 and June 8 respectively. The DPRK said the United States conducted over 170 spy flights against it in May. "Such actions are serious provocations against DPRK," said the spokesman. "If the U.S. keeps on spy flight, we will use our airforce to beat back such air intrusion any moment," the spokesman warned. The DPRK launched its first man-made satellite from Hwadae County in 1998, which was seen as an important step toward the development of long-range missiles. Source: Xinhua |
