The Honolulu-based U.S. Coast Guard cutter Rush arrives in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, June 11, 2006, kicking off a five-day visit at the invitation of China's Ministry of Public Security. Rush is the first major U.S. Coast Guard vessel to visit China since World War II, according to Capt. Dana Ware, commanding officer of Rush.

Snow leopard in the wilderness discovered
The photo taken by Jiang Zhigang shows a snow leopard in the wilderness. Jiang, a researcher with Institute of Zoology Chinese Academy of Sciences shot the photo during his study tour of snow leopard in Dulan County, northwest China's Qinghai Province from March to May 2006. Snow leopard usually lives in mountainous regions and areas near the snow line 4,000 meters above the sea level. It has listed an endangered species by the World Conservation Union (IUCN).

Airbus A330 succeeds in maiden flight to Lhasa
An Airbus A330 passenger airliner with 270 passengers aboard landed in Lhasa Gongga Airport on Sunday morning. With a maximum range of 12,500 kilometers, A330 is the dual-engine airliner with biggest range in Airbus family. It will become the major type of airplane sending passengers to Lhasa Airport, which will ease the insufficiency of transportation capacity to Lhasa during tourism season.
