The Israeli army launched an air strike targeting a car in Gaza City on Sunday and Hamas militants on board survived the attack, Palestinian witnesses said.
An Israeli military aircraft fired a missile targeting the militants' car in northern Gaza City, but the missile missed the target and hit the ground in front of the car, said witnesses.
The militants on board, who were members of Izzel-Deen al- Qassam Brigades, Hamas' armed wing, survived the attack, said the witnesses, adding that one of the militants who was driving the car was slightly injured and sent to Gaza's al-Shifa hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Israeli army sources confirmed the strike, saying that the Israeli plane failed to hit its target accurately.
Earlier in the day, two Hamas militants were killed in an Israeli air strike on northern Gaza and a third was seriously injured.
Hamas said that the two were killed when trying to fire a rocket onto Israel, vowing to avenge the Israeli killing.
Hamas, or the Islamic Resistance Movement which now runs the Palestinian government, called off a 16-month-old truce with Israel on Friday after seven Palestinians of the same family were killed in an Israeli shelling on a Gaza beach.
The Islamic group has claimed responsibility for firing more than 15 rockets onto Israel over the weekend.
