Slovakia's opposition Smer party, led by Robert Fico, has became the biggest single part with 31 percent support as the general election draws near, according to a poll released on Sunday.
The poll, conducted by the MVK agency, gave Smer an almost 20 percent advantage over Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda's Democratic and Christian Union which has 11.4 percent, with less than a week to go before a June 17 election.
Former Prime Minister Vladimir Meciar's Movement for a Democratic Slovakia came third with 10.7 percent.
The junior ruling Hungarian Coalition Party, with 8.6 percent, the Slovak National Party, 8.1 percent, the Christian Democratic Movement, 10.1 percent, and the Freedom Forum, 6.8 percent, also passed the 5 percent threshold needed to enter parliament.
If actual election results turned out as the poll indicated, Smer would gain 54 seats in the 150-seat parliament and would have the first chance to form a coalition government.
Nearly one-fifth of those polled said they have yet to decide on whether to go to the polls and which party to vote for.
