In the first Global City Competitiveness Report (2005-2006) released in Chengdu, capital of Southwest Sichuan Province on June 11, New York (US), Dublin (Ireland) and London (Britain) take the first three places. Hong Kong ranks the 19th.
The research was jointly made by institutions from eight countries, including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Bucknell University of US.
Based on the quantitative analysis on 75 indices of 110 cities around the world, the report evaluates city comprehensiveness, talents, enterprises, living conditions, business environment, innovation environment, social environment and comprehensive industrial competitiveness.
The report shows that among the top twenty cities, ten cites are from Europe, eight from US, two from Asia, which shows that European and American cities have stronger competitiveness and more distinctive competitive advantage.
Meanwhile, Asia's Tokyo and Hong Kong are listed among the leading international cities after years of development.
