Hong Kong's leading airline Monday claimed robust traffic figures for May of 2006, with both passenger numbers and cargo growth up over the same period of last year.
Cathay Pacific, a giant in air transportation industry in Hong Kong, said its airline carried more than 13 million passengers in May, an 8.8 percent in crease over the same month of last year. While the freight load in May reached 94,950 tons, 5.3 percent higher than the same period of last year.
An executive from Cathay Pacific said that both the business travelers and Golden Week holidays contribute to the increase in passengers booking. However, fuel prices remain a major concern of the company since there is no sign of a near-term correction.
