China opposes U.S. resolution on religious affairs in China
font size

China on Tuesday voiced strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the U.S. House of Representatives' resolution criticizing China's situation of religious affairs.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said at a regular press briefing that the resolution was a groundless attack and malicious slander which runs counter to the basic international norms and wantonly interferes in China's internal affairs.

The Chinese government protects the freedom of religious beliefs in accordance with law and Chinese citizens enjoy extensive and full freedom of religious beliefs, Jiang said.

"We would like to advise those U.S. congressmen to care more about how to deal with the violations of human rights in their own country and stop interfering in China's internal affairs under the pretext of human rights and religious freedom," Jiang said.
