font size

The Hong Kong government Tuesday approved 7.9 million HK dollars to undertake relief projects for earthquake victims in Yogyakarta and Central Java, Indonesia.

The grants from the Disaster Relief Fund, which was established in December 1993 for emergency disaster relief in places outside Hong Kong, are given to three relief agencies, namely Oxfam Hong Kong, Salvation Army and the World Vision Hong Kong, to conduct relief works in Indonesia.

In addition, at the request of the Indonesian government, the Hong Kong government procured and arranged air-freight of 20 tonnes of relief supplies, including tents and blankets, to help the needy in the country.
