Yahoo mail users asked to stay alert against Yamanner
font size

Yahoo has curbed the spread of worm Yamanner through the Yahoo mail service, but the users of Yahoo email still need to stay alert.

First detected on Monday, Yamanner targets users of Yahoo web-based mail. Once infected, the virus will search for Yahoo mail users in the address book and send them infected mails titled "New Graphic Site".

Yamanner is different from other viruses in that the computer will be infected once the user opens the mail with Yanmanner. While, in the past, computers will not be infected if the user doesn't open the attachment of an infected mail.

"We have taken steps to resolve the issue and protect our users from further attacks of this worm. The solution has been automatically distributed to all Yahoo mail customers, and requires no additional action on the part of the user," a Yahoo representative said.

Yahoo suggests the mail users to reject emails from av3@yahoo.com.
