font size

A total of 900,678 fighting cocks owned by 120,785 people across Thailand have been registered with the Livestock Department, the department said Thursday.

Yukol Limlaemthong, director-general of the department, said the registration was part of measures to prevent and control spread of bird-flu virus.

He said a total of 257,121 passports have been issued for fighting cocks so their owners could move their cocks around the country to participate in the cock fight sports.

Yukol said no bird flu virus had been detected in the country for 215 days now.
