font size

Three people were killed and 16 others injured when mortar rounds landed on Baghdad's northern outskirts on Friday, a police source said.

Several mortar rounds hit a residential area in the Sabie al- Boor suburb during the weekly Friday prayer, killing three people and wounding 16 others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The attack also damaged several houses in the neighborhood, he added.

Earlier, a suicide bomber blew himself up among Shiite worshippers during the Friday prayer in the Buratha Shiite mosque in central Baghdad, killing at least 10 people and wounding more than 25 others.
