British duck breeding company eyes Chinese restaurant industry in UK

Cherry Valley, which claims to be one of the world's foremost duck breeding company, is eyeing at the growing Chinese restaurant industry in UK.

"We have come to the understanding that quality, consistency and value for money are some of the most important purchase decision factors to the Chinese caterer," Eric Jagger, sales and Marketing director of the British company, said when unveiling the company's new packaging and slogan "More meat and less fat" here on Friday.

The company is to change its new package from July 1.

The new promotion drive, Jagger said, is aimed to attract the ever increasing number of younger people studying or working in UK and more and more new chefs in the country.

Cherry Valley turned out 9.1 million ducks each year, taking about 70 percent of the market share in UK, where Chinese restaurants are the biggest consumers of its ducks.

With four decades of duck raising and processing, Cherry Valley, claims that its ducks have more meat and less fat than most of the ducks raised by others in the world.

Cherry Valley now has four duck farms in China.
