Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid M Kasuri left Islamabad for Baku on Saturday as head of the Pakistani delegation to the 33rd session of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers to be held in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan on June 19-21.

According to a Pakistani foreign ministry statement, the annual conference of foreign ministers of Islamic countries will discuss major issues including Palestine, the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan, international terrorism, the reform process of the United Nations and expansions of the UN Security Council.

The conference is expected to adopt a large number of resolutions on a whole range of political and economic issues, promoting cooperation among OIC (Organization of Islamic conference) countries, reform and reconstruction of the OIC, cooperation in science and technology.

Kasuri is expected to meet many of his counterparts on the sidelines of the conference to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues, the statement said.

A meeting of the contact group on Kashmir will also be held on the margins of the foreign ministers' conference.

Pakistan has proposed a resolution on elimination of hatred and prejudice against Islam, which is under the agenda item of confronting Islamophobia, the statement said, adding that it was one of the important measures that were expected to be adopted in Baku.
