Ugandan National Council of Sports (NCS) has sent two representatives to China for a two-week's stadium management course, local media reported on Saturday.
Justin Ligyalingi, assistant general secretary (technical) of NCS and Eugene Ssemuju, manager of Nakivubo stadium have left on Friday for the course which is going to open in the Chinese capital city of Beijing.
The course, sponsored by the Chinese government, is aimed at equipping stadium managers around Africa with skills that will help turn the facilities into profit making projects. The course will be attended by delegates from over 20 African countries.
"The Chinese government knows our problems in managing the stadium which should otherwise be profitable. I think that is the reason we were chosen for the course," said Jasper Aligawesa, general secretary of NCS.
He added that Ligyalingi was particularly picked so that he could extend the knowledge acquired there to other local officials involved in stadium management while Semujju was zeroed on because he is directly involved.
Namboole stadium, which is the biggest in the eastern African country with the capacity of over 40,000 seats, was built with the help of the Chinese government and started operation since January 28th, 1999.
