FIFA World Cup 2000th goal may come in next two days

The 2006 FIFA World Cup will see the competition's 2000th goal, an event that is likely to happen in the next two days.

According to FIFA statistics on Tuesday, the number of goals to date is 1991.

Among the scorers of past FIFA World Cup milestone goals are illustrious names such as Angelo Schiavio (Italy, 100th in 1934), Gerd Muller (West Germany, 800th in 1970), Jean-Pierre Papin (France, 1200th in 1986) and Gary Lineker (England, 1300th also in 1986).
