Afghan president leaves Xinjiang concluding China tourPresident of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai left Urumqi Wednesday, concluding his four-day state visit to China. During his stay in Urumqi, capital of China's northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Karzai visited several businesses. In a meeting with Ismail Tiliwaldi, chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Karzai said that some high-tech enterprises in Xinjiang impressed him very much in utilizing solar and wind energy. The rapid economic growth in Xinjiang is another good example of China's success, on which Afghanistan can draw some experience, Karzai noted. Tiliwaldi expressed his hope of strengthening cooperation with Afghanistan as it shares border with Xinjiang.
