Xinjiang initiates 750 KV power grid construction

The State Grid Corporation of China and the government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have signed an agreement on the 750 kilovolt power grid construction.

According to the agreement, the State Grid Corporation of China will invest 18.2 billion yuan or about 2.3 billion US dollars during the Eleventh Five-Year period to enhance the 750 kilovolts of power grid construction in Xinjiang.

The grid will be linked with the northwest 750 kilovolts power grid to build the north passage of West-to-East Electricity Transmission Project which also marks the beginning of the project in Xinjiang.

In the next five years, Xingjiang and the State Grid Corporation of China will cooperate to speed the construction of thermal power base in Zhundong and hydropower base in Yili to extend the power grid to the hinterland in Xinjiang and pave the way for the resource transformation.
