Sweden has adopted 2,631 Chinese children up until the year 2005, according to National Bureau of Statistics of Sweden.
The number of Sweden-adopted Chinese children has been rising in recent years, and the Chinese Embassy in Sweden authenticated 415 children last year, according to Consul Wang, an official from the Consular Affairs Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sweden.
Consul Wang also said that these adopted children generally come from ware homes of various provinces. The majority of them are girls and there also some disabled children. But their adoptive parents don't mind it and try their best to give these children treatment.
Moreover, these adoptive parents are glad to send their Chinese children to learn Chinese. According to Consul Wang, not only do those Chinese children study Chinese but their adoptive parents also do. Some Swedish parents even courage their Chinese children to return to China in order to find their roots.
"I'm touched by their earnestness," said Consul Wang.
It has been introduced that these adoptive children will hold Chinese passport and not attain Sweden nationality until five years later.
