Beijing's foreign trade grows 30 percent in 1st five months

Foreign trade in China's capital amounted to 61.41 billion U.S. dollars in the first five months of this year, representing a year-on-year growth of 30.1 percent.

According to latest data from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, the total included 13.37 billion U.S. dollars in export volume, up 16.6 percent; and 48.04 billion U.S. dollars in import volume, up 34.5 percent.

In a related development, tourism in Beijing grew steadily in the January-May period. In the five months the city receive 1.434 million tourist arrival, up 6.5 percent over the same period of last year. The total included 1.23 million foreign tourist arrivals, up 8.7 percent.
