Senegalese president expects for more Chinese investment in his country
font size

Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade on Sunday expressed his hope that more Chinese companies would invest in his country.

Wade said this during a bilateral business seminar held in Shanghai, China's financial hub.

He suggested that a forum on investment between Shanghai and West Africa be held in Senegal this year.

Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng met with Wade and briefed the president on Shanghai's economic and social situation.

Wade praised Shanghai's development and expressed his hope that the two sides can strengthen cooperation in energy resources, infrastructure construction, communication and information technology.

Trade volume between Shanghai and Senegal in the first five months of 2006 reached 5.33 million U.S. dollars, up 15.95 percent year-on-year.

Wade and his party are visiting Shanghai after their visit in Shenzhen city, south China's Guangdong Province Saturday.

During his six-day state visit to China from June 21, Wade had met with Chinese President Hu Jintao, China's top legislator Wu Bangguo and top political advisor Jia Qinglin in Beijing.
