Bangladeshi government has ruled out any adverse impact on the domestic market following the imposition of the Indian ban on exports of three commodities to Bangladesh, local daily The Financial Express reported Monday.

India took a decision to suspend export of sugar, lentil and wheat to Bangladesh on June 22, the daily said.

"The country's supply side will not be affected by the unilateral suspension order by India on export of the commodities and that there will be no impact on the prices of those items in the domestic market," Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmed was quoted as saying.

The commerce minister also said Bangladesh may enhance import of those items from other countries like Nepal, Turkey and Brazil in the wake of India's suspension.

However, the daily quoted sources at the Petrapole in India as saying that it is yet to receive any official order regarding the suspension of export of those items to Bangladesh and they are still releasing those items from their side.

Contradicting with the commerce minister's views, some Bangladeshi businessmen said the prices of lentil might increase in the local market due to its export suspension by India.

Bangladesh mainly imports lentil from India and Nepal. It imports sugar mainly from Brazil and Thailand.
