font size

A U.S. navy's command ship docked in Shanghai on Tuesday, kicking off a four-day visit to the city.

The Blue Ridge, with some 800 officers, sailors and marines, was welcomed by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy officers and sailors.

Wang Deding, commander of the PLA Shanghai naval base met with Blue Ridge commander Captain Jeff Bartkoski upon the vessel's arrival.

During the visit, officers and sailors of the two navies will hold basketball games and other exercise drills. This is the Blue Ridge's fourth visit to Shanghai since 1989.
