China's exports of aquatic product remain No. 1 for four consecutive years
font size

The qualified yield of residues of drug of aquatic product increased from 89 percent of the earlier period of the Tenth Five-Year Plan to over 95 percent at present. In particular, the qualified yield of residues of chloramphenicol climbed from 83 percent in 2003 to 98.4 percent in 2005. It is the fourth consecutive year that China's exports of aquatic product are No. 1 worldwide.

Fan Xiaojian, vice minister of Ministry of Agriculture of China, said China's fishery has shifted form "taking fish catching as the leading position"to "taking fish breeding as the leading position". If the issue of quality safety can be solved well, China could improve the competitiveness of aquatic breeding, added Fan.
