At least five people died overnight in flooding in northern Romania and 15 more are missing, Realitatea TV quoted local authorities as saying Saturday.

Local authorities in Suceava region said about 2,000 houses had been destroyed in the floods.

Heavy storms and flooding were also reported in the central and southern Romania, with gusts uprooting trees and floods covering streets and roads.
