Immediate former Tanzanian prime minister Frederick Sumaye was set to leave on Sunday for a one-year master program at the Harvard University.
The former prime minister was to major in public administration which he deems important to the development of his country's agriculture.
Sumaye served as prime minister from 1995 to 2005 under former Tanzanian president Benjamin William Mkapa.
He also served in various government departments for another 10 years prior to his premiership.
The retired prime minister now lives in a farm some 25 km away from downtown Dar es Salaam.
