EADS, airbus chiefs resign over A-380 delivery delay
font size

The chiefs of European Aeronautic Defence & Space company (EADS) and its subsidiary Airbus resigned on Sunday over the delivery delay of an A-380 Superjumbo which has caused great trouble to the companies.

According to a brief statement issued by the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the German chief executive officer, Gustav Humbert, had submitted his resignation. Christian Streiff, who had been a top executive of Saint Gobain, a French glass manufacturer, would succeed him, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Noel Forgeard, co-chief of the EADS, was also to step down, and his replacement will be Louis Gallois, who is head of France's railway company SNCF, the statement by the EADS said.

These high-level management shake-ups came after the companies' June 13 announcement on the delivery delay of its Airbus 380 Superjumbo.

Before that, Forgeard was revealed selling substantial EADS shares. He was questioned by a French parliamentary finance committee Last week, when he denied any wrong-doings and speculation of his resignation.
