China calls on Japan to take "concrete actions" to amend soured relations
font size

China called on Japan to work with China and take "concrete action" to repair their relations.

"I hope Japan will join hands with China and take concrete action to steer China-Japan relations back to a normal track of healthy and stable development", said Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan in his meeting with Ichiro Ozawa, leader of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), the country's largest opposition party.

Tang said China attaches great importance to the China-Japan relations. He stressed that the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations will not only tally with the fundamental interests of the two nations and the two peoples, but also facilitate the maintenance of peace in Asia and the world, and promote common prosperity.

Tang spoke positively on Ozawa's long-term contribution to the development of Sino-Japanese relations, noting that Ozawa has played an important role in promoting healthy and stable bilateral ties.

Tang also expressed his appreciation to Ozawa's decade-long efforts to promote the Great Wall Program.

Responding to Tang's proposal, Ozawa noted that Japan-China relations are vitally important and the two sides should make concerted efforts to their development.

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, also met with Ozawa on Monday afternoon. They exchanged views on issues concerning party relations and bilateral ties.
