China appoints new Party chief of Gansu Province

Lu Hao has been appointed the secretary of the Gansu provincial committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in northwest China, the CPC Central Committee announced here Tuesday.

Su Rong, Lu's predecessor, will be shifted to other position, the CPC Central Committee said.

Lu Hao, now 59, a native of Changli in north China's Hebei Province. Before the election, he had served as a member of the Standing Committee and the deputy secretary of CPC Gansu provincial committee and a governor of Gansu Province.

In 1981, Lu became a CPC member.

Lu had been appointed governor of Gansu Province in January 2001. He is a member of 16th CPC Central Committee.
