A public opinion poll taken by the island's China Times shows that although Taiwanese leader Chen Shui-bian narrowly survived the island's first ever attempt to recall a "President", 75.1 percent of Taiwanese surveyed are dissatisfied with Chen's rule. As many as 35.1 percent of the Pan-Green coalition are unhappy with Chen as are 70.8 percent of those who are neutral.

Questioned about the recall of Chen Shui-bian by Kuomintang Party (KMT) Chairman Ma Ying-jeou, 44.3 percent of people believed Ma acted moderately, 30.6 percent thought Ma's reaction was too weak and slow and another 17.2 percent believed Ma's action was too strong. There was also another 24.3 percent who oppose reunification who felt that Ma's actions were moderate and reasonable.
