    Doctors succeed to separate conjoined twin girls

    Ten-month-old conjoined twin girls are wheeled into the opeartion room at Fudan University's Children's Hospital in Shanghai, Thursday July 6, 2006. They shared a liver, spleen, gall bladder and digestive tract. The separation surgery takes up 13 hours and separates the conjoined twins successfully.

    Driverless train to transport passengers in Capital Airport

    The photo shows the construction site of the No. 3 terminal of Beijing Capital International Airport, which is set to begin trial operation in 2008. A driverless train will carry international passengers from T3A (domestic) to T3B (international) in the new No. 3 terminal by then. The rail linking the two areas is 2.5 km long and one ride takes four minutes.

    Tsinghua University inaugurates energy-saving building

    A new building using the world's most advanced energy-saving technologies is put into use at China's prestigious Tsinghua University in Beijing July 6, 2006. An inauguration ceremony for the building was held at the university on Thursday. The building, designed by Italian architect Mario Cucinella and jointly constructed by China's Ministry of Science and Technology and Italy's Environment Ministry, will be used as a teaching building for the Environmental Science and Engineering Department of the university.

    Palm-sized baby

    Zhang Ni, a premature palm-sized baby, is put on an electronic scale which reads 0.832 kg, at the Children's Hospital in Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province Thursday, July 6, 2006. Doctors say the baby is growing well, physically normal and healthy except for the tiny size. They hope her parents will come back to her one day.     Regulations for volunteers in effect in Ningxia
