China looking for overseas assistance in rejuvenating industrial belt
font size

China will invite around 15,000 professionals from overseas to participate in an international fair in September in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, in a bid to improve technology and boost regional economic development.

Individuals and companies from some 30 countries and regions, including the United States, Russia and Japan, will have the opportunity to propose high-tech projects involving sectors such as bio-technology, mining and electronics.

The event will attract some 300 experts and scholars from neighboring Russia and other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

"Liaoning shares advantages in talents exchange with Russia and other CIS member countries thanks to geographic and historic factors," deputy governor Xu Weiguo told a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

Liaoning, which is one of the country's old industrial bases, has employed more than 800 Russian experts and professionals since 2001, Xu said.
