China's customs revenue, which includes customs duties (55.9 billion Yuan) and import taxes (239.9 billion Yuan), rose by 19 percent to 295.8 billion Yuan in the first half of this year, an increase of 47.6 billion Yuan over the same period of last year, according to Wednesday's addition of People's Daily.
This year the domestic economy has been growing strongly, boosting the need for imported commodities. From January to May, the imports of general trade, the main sources of customs revenue, climbed by 20 percent to US$129.1 billion. The volume of imports, which includes things like crude oil, processed oil, machinery, electronics and auto parts, saw an increase of 25 percent respectively in the first half of this year.
