Hill says sanction not discussed in China visit
font size

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill said Friday afternoon that he hopes the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) can return to the six-party talks as soon as possible.

He said "the United States is prepared to implement all the elements in the September agreements", and urged the DPRK to take corresponding actions.

Hill, also chief U.S. negotiator in the six-party talks, made the remarks before leaving Beijing after his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, vice FM Wu Dawei and State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan, following DPRK's test-firing of missiles on Wednesday.

The United States has achieved "very good understanding" with China on the current situation, and hopes to work with China to deal with the situation, he said.

The two sides discussed the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula but did not discuss sanction on DPRK, according to Hill.
