KFC to open 100 drive-throughs in China in three years
font size

U.S. fast-food giant KFC will open 100 drive-throughs in China in the next three years, China Business News reported on Friday.

KFC has just opened two new drive-throughs in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, and Wuxi city on Thursday, bringing its number of drive-throughs in China to four.

The move is aimed at combating the recent announcement by McDonalds and Sinopec, the nation's largest oil refiner, to jointly open several drive-throughs around the country.

The drive-in store in Nanjing is in cooperation with German retailer Metro AG Group, a long-term partner of KFC in running drive-in stores, while the other is located in the new technological development zone of Wuxi city.

Since the opening of its first store in China in 1987, KFC has run more than 1,200 fast food outlets in China and drive-throughs have become a new market, which both KFC and McDonald are competing for.
