U.S. congressman calls for U.S.-Cuba energy joint ventures
font size

A U.S. congressman made a public call here on Friday for U.S. and Cuban companies to establish joint ventures in energy.

"We are very limited in the areas where we can work together, but if the embargo is lifted, many states would negotiate not only agriculture deals, but also in energy and fuels," said Solomon Ortiz, a Democratic Congressman for the U.S. state of Texas, who is here for a visit from Wednesday.

In the past, Cuban officials have said that they would be willing to work with U.S. exploration companies seeking energy resources in the Gulf of Mexico waters.
