The World Bank has provided Angola with a total of 25 million U.S. dollars for peasant family farming projects in the southern African country, local media reported on Saturday.
This was disclosed on Thursday in Huambo city by World Bank representative to Angola Eduardo de Sousa, at a workshop on " Peasant Family Farming Project" being attended by diplomats accredited to Angola and partners of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Eduardo de Sousa, who was presenting the purposes of the workshop, said the project will generate an ample and sustainable increment of farming family's revenues in target areas, through the increment of efficacy in farming and trade.
The strategy of the project that will start in 2007, will also create a favorable environment within peasants, with other existing programs and infrastructures.
The project is expected to reach 20 communes selected in the provinces of Huambo, Bie and Malanje.
The workshop is attended by deputy governors of Huambo and Bie as well as representatives of Malanje.
