Senior officials of Chinese, Japanese ruling parties meet in BeijingSenior officials of the Chinese and Japanese ruling parties on Friday discussed ways to mend bilateral relations through party exchanges. "We hope the parties of the two countries will make joint efforts to get China-Japan relations back on track," said Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in a meeting with Ichiro Aisawa, acting secretary general of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Chinese President Hu Jintao explained China's policy on China-Japan relations on March 31 in a meeting with the heads of seven Japan-China friendship organizations. "Hu's remarks are important principles for China in promoting bilateral relations," Wang said. Aisawa said the deepening of exchanges between the parties would benefit the overall relations. "This is the consensus of various Japanese parties, including the LDP." Wang and Aisawa also exchanged views on other issues of common concern. Exchanges between Chinese and Japanese parties are on the rise. Ichiro Ozawa, leader of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), Japan's largest opposition party, visited China from Monday to Thursday.
