US control of goods exported to China contradicts Sino-US trade relations: official
font size

China has urged the United States to give up its "cold war mentality" and take constructive measures to promote the healthy development of Sino-US trade relations.

Chong Quan, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, made the remarks on Monday in response to a document issued by the US Commerce Deaprtment on July 6 which announced new restrictions on the export of goods to China.

The US side should, by taking the overall Sino-US ties into consideration, promote bilateral trade on high technologies to ease the trade imbalance between the two sides, Chong said.

It goes against the interests of both Chinese and US firms and bilateral trade ties to set up irrational obstacles and additional premises to the normal trade between the two sides, Chong said.

According to Chong, China attaches great importance to the US move and will issue further comments after listening to the opinions of relevant industries.
