The just-ended Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair has posted a record amount of export and import orders, according to government sources on Tuesday.

Tanzanian Industry, Trade and Marketing Minister Nazir Karamagi revealed that the 10-day trade fair that concluded on Monday had netted 392 million U.S. dollars worth of export and import orders.

Export orders accounted for 153 million dollars while import orders amounted to 239 million dollars.

On-spot sales also registered a huge increase, from last year's 6.4 million dollars to this year's 16.48 million dollars.

Fifteen foreign countries took part in this year's trade fair whereas last year's fair drew eight foreign countries.
