font size

China posted a record high 235.36 billion U.S. dollars in the imports and exports of high-tech products over the first six months, up 30.6 percent from the same period last year, reports the Ministry of Commerce.

The number accounts for 29.6 percent of the country's total foreign trade volume of 795.74 billion U.S. dollars.

This is the first time that both the imports and exports of high-tech products exceeded the benchmark of 100 billion U.S. dollars. According to the report, imports of these products stood at 111.89 billion U.S. dollars while the exports were 123.47 billion U.S. dollars.

About 55.2 percent of the country's imports and exports, or 439.39 billion U.S. dollars, came from machinery and electronic products, representing a year-on-year growth of 28.7 percent.
