China's auto parts exports total US$8.947 billion in 2005
font size

According to China's Ministry of Commerce, exports of auto parts last year reached US$8.947 billion, an increase of 22.82 percent from 2004. The figure accounts for 82 percent of China's total volume of auto products.

Exports are generally labor intensive, consume a lot of energy and have little additional value. This is despite the fact that the auto parts being produced are continually diversifying and skills and additional value are increasing.

Foreign-founded enterprises and joint ventures make up 56.35 percent of exports, still ranking No.1 and No.2 respectively, followed by private enterprises, state-owned enterprises and collective enterprises.
