IMF aids Zambia in improving tax administration
font size

A five member delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is in Zambia to help the country 's revenue authority identify improvements in tax administration, local newspaper The Post reported Friday.

IMF country director Joseph Kakoza confirmed the presence of the delegation, saying it has started holding diagnostic work with the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).

He said what the delegation and ZRA were doing was meant to see what improvements could be made in Zambia's tax administration.

He further noted that the work being done was part of the reform agenda of the Fifth National Development Plan in which the Zambian government intends to review the tax system and that the work being done was meant to help the Zambian government decide on issues that needed to be addressed.

Kakoza said the delegation would also hold talks with the chamber of commerce and industry, the farmers' union and people familiar with tax system on how tax had been impacting on them.
