Malaysian rubber production up 11 percent in May

The Malaysian nature rubber production recorded 85,782 tons in May this year, up 11 percent compared with the same month of last year.

The smallholding sector contributed 95.4 percent to the total production in May this year, according to the statistics released by the Malaysian Department of Statistics on Friday.

For the period from January to May this year, the cumulative natural rubber production of Malaysia amounted to 505,969 tons, the department said.

The country's natural rubber production stood at 77,927 tons in April this year.
