font size

The Arab satellite TV channel Al-Jazeera reported on Sunday that Israel air struck the Jiyeh power station in southern Beirut and the plant was in flames in the early hours of the morning.

Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon entered its fifth day Sunday and more than 100 Lebanese people, mostly civilians, have been killed.

Israel launched the airstrikes in retaliation to a cross-border raid by Hezbollah, in which two Israeli soldiers were captured by the guerrillas.

Meanwhile, 15 Israeli have also been killed, and Hezbollah has fired hundreds of rockets deep into northern Israel.
